Catalytic spectrophotometric determination of trace hydroquinone

摘要
An catalytic spectrophotometric method was proposed for the determination of trace hydroquinone. The method was based on the catalytic effect of hydroquinone on the oxidation of azure blue II by KIO3, in the presence of in H2SO4 medium oxalic acid as an activitor. The linear range of the determination is 0.04 similar to 1.20 mg/L and the detection limit is 0.008 mg/L. This method is simple, sensitive and selective. It was been used for the determination of hydroquinone in the tap water, waste water and developer with staisfactory results.
