摘要
This paper presents a design of a miniaturized patch antenna with a Dumbbells-defected ground structure (DGS) for radio frequency identification (RFID) system in European ultra-high frequency (UHF) band. The comparative study of the patch antenna with and without DGS is presented. The effect of the number of DGS on the performance of the antenna is also studied. An antenna size reduction of 31% and an enhancement of 71% in realized gain are achieved as compared with the performance of the antenna without DGS. The antenna is fabricated and measured experimentally to validate the simulation results.
