摘要：
Extensible markup language (XML) is designed to provide a document markup language that is easier to learn and use than SGML and semantically richer than HTML. It provides a common format for expressing both data structures and contents making it a standard for data representation and exchange. Hence, it can help in integrating structured, semistructured, and unstructured data over the web.
