Synthesis and comparison characterisation of hydroxyapatite and carbonated hydroxyapatite

摘要
The aim of the present study was to compare two calcium phosphate biomaterials regarding bone biomimetic characteristics in term of chemical and biocompatibility, in particular cell metabolic activity and mitochondria activity were investigated. Hydroxyapatite (HA) and Carbonated Hydroxyapatite (CHA) powders were both synthetized by wet method; chemical, morphological and biocompatibility evaluations were performed. Using the Balb 3T3 test system CHA was shown non-cytotoxic while HA was slightly cytotoxic. Using human osteogenic bone marrow cells (HOBMC), both powders are non-cytotoxic. Moreover mitochondria activity (MTT test) was not modified. Thus CHA and HA powders could be both suggested for bone filling material development; in particular CHA due to his bone biomimetic chemical composition could have higher development than HA for bone repair or hard tissue engineering.
