摘要
We investigated acid reflux into the nasopharynx in patients with chronic otitis media (COM) by using three-channel 24 hour pH monitoring and analyzed the influence of acid exposure on Eustachian tube (ET) function. 15 patients with COM, who were admitted to our hospital, were enrolled in this study. 11 volunteers without history of ear disease were also enrolled as controls. A questionnaire survey about gastroesophageal reflux (GER), ET function test (acoustic method), and 24-hour pH monitoring were performed. Nasopharyngeal acid reflux judged by simultaneous pH decrease was detected in 5/15 patients versus no controls, being significantly higher in the patients (p=0.0470).
