摘要
In Precambrian Shield areas, coherent crustal blocks and variable fault zones are directly related to both crustal evolution and lithology. Ductile deformation under orogenic thermal conditions produced folding and shearing structures while later movements in the cooled crust produced brittle faults, fractures and joints. Thus, tectonic evolution significantly influences those rock mechanical properties that are important in planning the use of rock masses. Understanding of the latest structures, including those that are neotectonic, and their relationship to crustal history is valuable in the prediction and avoidance of problems in the utilisation of rock masses. The purpose of the "Shear zone research and rock engineering" project is to geologically and geophysically analyse bedrock data and process it for use in rock mechanical applications. The project will produce new classifications and parameters for technical purposes by converting geological information into a useable form.
