摘要
Adiabatic shear banding propagating at very large speed was observed during the unstable fracture of TRIP-TWIP b -metastable Ti-12 wt% Mo alloy under quasi-static loading. The fusible coating method was used with five different coatings to assess the predicted temperature variations. Two onedimensional models are compared based on parameters measured on fractured samples of Ti-12 wt% Mo alloy. The importance of the thickness of the shear band as well as of the shearing time are highlighted. A new two-dimensional model is then developed to represent the nucleation and propagation of the shear band. Finally, an analytical one-dimensional model is proposed to estimate the temperature rise occurring during adiabatic shear banding of other metallic alloys from easily accessible physical and mechanical properties.
