Effect of heating rate on the microphase transformation behavior in a CuZnAlMnNi alloy

摘要
The microphase transformation in shape memory alloy actuator was investigated using differential scanning calorimetry. CuZnAlMNNi alloy was tested in the solution heat-treated condition. The DSC curve at a heating rate of 5 K/minute has a large smooth peak, whereas the DSC curves for the same sample heating rates of 0.2 and 0.1 K/minute consisted of many continuous and discontinuous small endothermic peaks. When a solution heat-treated CuZnAlMnNi alloy was heated, all the microzones transformed successively in an extremely short time, and a compound wave pattern resulted that exhibited a single endothermic peak in the DSC curve.
