摘要
As a suitable switch architecture for variable bit rate video communication multimedia backbone network, a variable bit rate TDM (VTDM) switch architecture has been proposed. In this paper, framework of traffic control system for VTDM switch is proposed to guarantee quality of video traffic such as end-to-end delay and timeslot loss rate. The system has following two features. The first feature is that no timeslot loss can be guaranteed for constant bit rate traffic by combination of connection admission control and traffic shaping at a source terminal. The second feature is that lower timeslot loss is realized for variable bit rate traffic by timeslot delay control across different TDM frames. Simulated results show that employment of delay control achieves lower timeslot loss rate by two orders of magnitude compared with the system without delay control.
