The linear low density polyethylenes (LLDPE)/nano-SiO2 composites, synthesized by the in situ polymerization process with MAO/metallocene catalysts, was investigated. At certain points silica particles were found to be dispersed in the polymer matrix. In order to identify this distribution of silica particles in polymer matrix, energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDX) mapping was performed on the distribution of Si and O elements. It was observed that steric hindrance, arising from the nano-particles, resultes in the low yield of polymerization.
