Photoluminescence from fullerene-doped polyvinylcarbazole (PVK) prepared by solution casting under laser irradiation

Photoluminescence (PL) from fullerene (C-60 and C-70)-doped polyvinylcarbazole (PVK) films prepared by solution casting under laser irradiation (wavelength: 488 nm) has been studied. At the beginning of laser irradiation, fullerene-doped PVK have much stronger and broader PL than pure fullerene-casted film and the other fullerene-doped polymers (PMMA, PS, PMPS and PPSQ) due to the effective energy transfer from WK to fullerene. By analysis of their solubility, W-visible absorption spectra and mass spectra before and after laser irradiation, PL intensity of fullerene-doped PVK decreases with laser irradiation time because most fullerene molecules may be bonded with the carbazole groups of PVK by laser-induced photochemical reaction.
