摘要
The transmission system, which is a key part of the power grid, is ever-growing and always being improved. Conventionally, AC transmission systems have been used to move power where its needed, however in certain recent applications related to renewable energy sources, DC transmission systems have been chosen over AC transmission systems mostly due to the long transmission distances. Currently, power electronic converters make possible to implement alternatives to HVDC transmission systems such as Low Frequency AC Systems, which have the potential to increase the capacity of existing transmission lines, thus improving the transmission system. In this paper, a Hexverter-based Low Frequency transmission system is studied. The effect of frequency on the parameters of the transmission line and on the design of the Hexverter are discussed and an optimization problem is proposed to select the optimal transmission frequency.
