Virtual bleach plants, part 2:: Unified ClO2 and Cl2 bleaching model

摘要
This paper presents a unified kinetic model for chlorine dioxide and elemental chlorine bleaching. Derived from bleaching chemistry, reaction networks have been proposed to consolidate the information from bleaching mechanism studies. The purpose of this model is to represent mill bleaching stages for process improvements and operations. The model provides much more information than traditional bleaching kinetic models. However, this model is not for understanding basic bleaching mechanisms. We used various laboratory bleaching data to identify model parameters and validate the model. Combining this model with other models in this series of papers, a "virtual bleach plant" (VBP) can be built for simulation. Mills can use this "virtual bleach plant" as an engineering tool to test various process options and to optimize bleach plants, (e.g. evaluating COD carryover impacts on bleaching chemical consumption) it can also be used as a full bleach plant software sensor for advanced process control.
