Phospholipid composition of chromatin in wheat germ excised from germinating seeds

The phospholipid (PL) composition of chromatin in excised wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) germs was studied in air-dry seeds and in germs imbibed for 24 h in medium with or without gibberellic acid (GA(3)). In the course of germination, the total PL content of chromatin increased, and six major PL fractions were identified. The content of phosphatidylcholine (PC) slightly decreased, whereas other PLs (especially phosphatidylserine) increased. In GA(3)-treated genus, the reduction in PC content was below, and the increase in phosphatidylethanolamines content exceeded, the values in control germs.
