Anion tuned magnetic properties of acetato and nitrato-bridged Dy2 complexes

摘要
Two salen-type dinuclear dysprosium complexes, namely, [Dy(H2L)(OAc)(2)](2)(PF6)(2)center dot 4CH(2)Cl(2) (1) and [Dy (H2L)(2)(NO3)](2)(PF6)(4)center dot 4CH(2)Cl(2)center dot 0.5C(6)H(14) (2) have been isolated by reactions of a hexadentate salen type ligand (H2L = N,N'-bis(2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidene)-1,3-diaminopropane) with Dy(OAc)(3)center dot 6H(2)O and Dy(NO3)(3)center dot 6H(2)O, respectively. X-ray crystallographic analyses reveal that two crystallographically equivalent Dy(III) ions in 1 are multi-bridged by four OAc anions, while two crystallographically nonequivalent Dy(III) ions for 2 are bridged by two NO3 anions. Two Dy(III) ions were displaying different coordination geometry for complexes 1 and 2, which result in the distinct magnetic properties that complex 2 behaves as a single molecule magnet (SMM) with two magnetic relaxations under 0 OE dc field, while one relaxation barrier was observed for complex 1.
