摘要：

The paper presents a method to systematize basic terms applied in debris-flow geography - debris-flow types, genesis, types of basins, recurrence and age. It is based on numerous field investigations carried out in various mountain regions of the former USSR. Arrangement of basic data within a single system is vital for creation of databases and organization of debris-flow monitoring.
