摘要
In order to provide an efficient management of electrical energy in homes, an Energy Management Controller ( EMC), which checks electricity consumption and controls the electric energy used with the demand response technique, is necessary for remotely managing the domestic load. The EMC can be in-built with smart meter and it receives the amount of electricity consumed by customer on real time basis from the Smart meter. Whenever utility company sends a command for load shedding, low priority appliances are cut off from power supply so as to reduce peak demand. The priority of the appliances can be set by the user through an easy interface to the EMC. Each appliance is installed with a local smart controller in order to execute the control operation as instructed by the EMC. In addition, the operation of low priority appliances can be implemented in a predefined interval at off peak times. The EMC communicate with local controllers installed in the appliances through ZigBee communication and EMC communicate with utility through Global System for Communication ( GSM) which also has an advantage of communicating with consumer's mobile.
