The 2004 Biennial Workshop of the Australasian Section of the AOCS was held at The Meridien Hotel, Adelaide 30 November - 01 December 2004. Sixty delegates were provided with a program of three plenary lectures, 34 talks, four panel discussions including one on the recent Cochrane review on Omega-3 fatty acids for prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease, with discussion of nine posters at tea breaks. Session topics were: Analytical, Plant oils, Omega-3 oils (3 sessions) and Nutrition. The program covered edible oil and ingredient supply, manufacture and selling of fat-based products, nutritional research and other activities that support the industry. The workshop benefited greatly in having Danisco as a major sponsor, with Goodman Fielder Commercial, Nu-Mega Ingredients, Pharmalink Marketing Australia and Riverland Oilseeds also providing support.
