Enumeration of tree-like octagonal systems: catapolyoctagons

摘要：
A catapolyoctagon is a catacondensed polygonal system which consists of exclusively octagons and represents a polycyclic conjugated hydrocarbon. The numbers of nonisomorphic catapolyoctagons are determined as combinatorial expressions in terms of certain quantities, which were determined recursively. The application of generating functions is discussed briefly.
