Levosimendan enhances cardiac performance in patients following cardiac surgery and cardiopulmonary bypass

摘要
The hemodynamic effects of levosimendan, a new myofilament calcium sensitizing drug were studied in patients undergoing cardiac surgery and cardiopulmonary bypass. Levosimendan (18 or 36 mu g/kg bolus followed by 0.2 or 0.3 mu g/kg/min) was compared to placebo in 3 groups of patients (n=6 each). Levosimendan increased cardiac output and stroke volume and reduced systemic and pulmonary vascular resistance. The results indicate that levosimendan enhances cardiac performance and reduces ventricular afterload.
