Racism and necropolitics in Brazilian journalism: a critical analysis of UOL discourse

摘要：
The paper explores the manifestations of racist discursive abuse of power that appear in journalistic statements from the perspective of critical discourse analysis (CDA). Six texts published, with a racial issue, in the UOL Portal between May and August 2021 were chosen, selected among the five texts that were published at 10pm in the first seven days of the months of collection. For analysis, in addition to the authors of ACD (such as Van Dijk, 2008, 2017; Batista Jr; Sato; Melo, 2018), we discuss about structural racism (Almeida, 2019), and necropolicy (Mbembe, 2018) in dialogue with the concept of biopower in Foucault (2008). We show the media discourse on racism as a source of violent actions, the relationship between racism, social inequality and necropolitics.
