摘要
Periodontal disease can occur in adults, young people or children, while low bone density appears in osteoporosis. This latter one is a disease related to aging, characterized by bone resorption and low mineral bone density, which leads to increased bone fragility. Aged people face daily challenges, as the installation of osteoporosis may induce other diseases. When alveolar bone loss occurs, periodontitis is also installed. With age, the maxillary alveolar bone density decreases, so that both periodontitis and osteoporosis appear in the context of low bone mineral density and low bone fragility. However, a correct prevention of the periodontal disease may improve the life quality of elderly persons. The aim of the present study is to highlight the occurrence of periodontal disease in case of low bone density.
