Synthesis and characterization of triosmium-bis[60]fullerene and bis(metal cluster)[60]fullerene compounds

Triosmium-bis[60]fullerene compound containing dppm ligand, Os-3(CO)(7)(dppm)(C-60)(2) (1), was synthesized by reaction of Os-3(CO)(9)((3)-(2):(2):(2)-C-60) and dppm ligand with Me3NO/MeCN. Reaction of Os-3(CO)(7)(1,2-dppm)((3)-(2):(2):(2)-C-60) and Re-3(-H)(3)(CO)(11)(NCMe) produced bis(metal-cluster)[60]fullerene compound, [Os-3(CO)(7)(1,2-dppm)]((3)-(2):(2):(2)-C-60)[Re-3(-H)(3)(CO)(9)] (2). Compounds 1 and 2 were characterized by IR, NMR (H-1 and P-31), and Mass. Electrochemical property of 1 was confirmed by cyclic voltammetry (CV).
