Novel polypyrrole(PPy) microstructures were fabricated via the electrochemical oxidation of pyrrole in poly(4-styrene sulfonic acid) aqueous solution. By the modified silver-mirror reaction, silver nanoparticles were deposited on surface of the PPy microstructures to form PPy-silver composites. The application of the as-prepared PPy-silver composites in surface-enhanced Raman scattering(SERS) was studied using Rhodamine B(Rh b) as probe molecules. The results showed that the PPy-silver composites exhibited excellence SERS ability and could be used as SERS-active substrates for detection of trace molecules.
