Medications used to reduce the risk of osteoporosis-related fractures are classified as antiresorptiveagents (thatsuppress osteoclastmediatedboneresorption) or anabolic therapies (that promotenew bone formation by activating osteoblasts). Antiresorptive medications have already been reviewed.(1) This JAMAInsights discusses the use of anabolic medications, including teriparatide, abaloparatide, and romosozumab.
