Ergonomic requirements for large-area flat panel TVs

Large-area flat panel PDP-TVs and LCD-TVs are being used more and more these days in homes. These new kinds of TVs were evaluated from the ergonomic viewpoints of display visibility and visual fatigue. The results showed that LCD-TVs caused a noticeable luminance and chromaticity variations of the picture with viewing angle, and a decrease of visual acuity in prolonged watching of video pictures with rapid motion. This current ergonomic evaluation suggests that PDP-TVs may be superior to LCD-TVs for home use.
