Kinetics of etching of AgAsS2 and AgGeS2 glasses in alkaline solutions

摘要
The chemical durability of AgAsS2 and AgGeS2 vitreous electrolytes is studied in alkaline solutions (0.01 M NaOH + 0.99 M NaNO3) and (0.1 M NaOH + 0.9 M NaNO3) at temperatures of 35, 45, and 55 degreesC. The rate and the activation energy of the dissolution complicated by the formation of an Ag2S precipitate are determined. The glasses are rather stable in alkaline nonoxidizing media and have close parameters of the incongruent dissolution controlled by a heterogeneous chemical reaction.
