Stretching of vorticity and passive vectors in isotropic turbulence

摘要
In order to characterize the vortex stretching process in turbulence, a comparison is made numerically between nonlinear vortex stretching and a linear stretching process of a passive vector. It is found that the passive Vector is stretched more intensely than the vorticity. The physical meaning and the underlying mechanism of this effect are discussed.
