摘要
The operation of the Pierre Auger Observatory is reviewed. The method of extensive air shower reconstruction and energy determination is explained in detail. The unique possibility to correlate measurements based on fluorescence registration with ground array measurements has important implications for elementary particle physics at ultra-high energies.
