摘要
Britain's first naval victory of the French Revolutionary Wars has long been recognized as a tactical victory and a strategic stalemate. And as this paper shows, the propaganda effort to elevate Howe's victory into a political victory for the government of William Pitt was advanced vigorously on the stages of the London theater.
