摘要
To date there has been little research that reveals and describes the connection between the individual and his or her environment, which is the foundation for the coping process. These findings are part of a grounded theory study. The article shows how othe struggle to be a participant in one's own lifeo was identified as a central tendency in coping with advanced cancer. It involved a pattern of four life conditions: alleviation from a life-threatening illness, carry on a normal life, live with powerlessness, and find courage and strength, which were characterized by a series of limitations and resources significant to coping.
