摘要
In summary, CE is currently the preferred test for mucosal imaging of the entire small intestine and should be part of the initial investigation in patients with obscure bleeding. Its diagnostic yield is high, and potentially it can produce an earlier diagnosis. When integrated into a global approach to the patient, CE is helpful in achieving effective decision-making concerning subsequent investigations and treatments. This in turn can mean more timely treatment and lower overall health-care utilization and costs [1,3,12,21-23]. However, large prospective studies are necessary in order to provide a better assessment of the impact of CE on clinical outcomes, and future studies should include a standardized treatment approach after CE in the protocol. © Georg Thieme Verlag KG Stuttgart · New York.
