摘要
A metamaterial-inspired planar antenna for passive UHF radio frequency identification (RFID) tags is presented in this paper. The tag antenna consists of a printed dipole and a pair of lying S-shaped elements. The dipole is fed by a microchip with a T-matching structure. The pair of S-shaped elements are connected in series to create a parasitic element, which can reduce the edge scattering of the antenna. Commercial software ANSYS HFSS is used to analyze and simulate this antenna. The simulated input impedance of the tag antenna is 25.5+j195.4 Omega at the frequency of 906 MHz. The simulated realized gain of the antenna is 0.46 dBi corresponding to a maximum read range of 12.7 m at the frequency of 906 MHz. The overall dimension of the tag antenna is 60x19.89x0.8 mm(3).
