Isothermal vapour-liquid equilibrium measurements for the systems of butane with methanol, 2-propanol, 1-butanol, 2-butanol and 2-methyl2-propanol were made at 364.5 K using a static total pressure apparatus. The obtained pressure-temperature-total composition (PTz) data were converted into pressure-temperature-liquid-vapour composition (PTxy) form by means of the Barker method. Error analysis was performed on measured and calculated variables. The systems of butane with methanol and 2-propanol showed azeotropic behaviour at 364.5 K. Wilson and NRTL parameters were regressed. The VLE measurements were compared with predictions obtained using the UNIFAC, UNIFAC-Dortmund and COSMO-RS models. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V.
