Gain and bandwidth enhancement of a microstrip antenna by incorporating air gap

摘要
This paper presents a design of a rectangular microstrip patch antenna having a large bandwidth using the coaxial feeding method. For this purpose, two substrates were considered. The value of the dielectric constant of the upper substrate was 4.4 and that of the lower substrate was 1 (an air gap was included between the substrate and the ground plane). The height of the upper substrate was considered as 0.158 cm, and the height of the air gap height was also the same. The width and length of the ground plane were also modified. Gain and bandwidth were modified accordingly.
