摘要：
Lotfi Zadeh, the father of fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic, introduced many of their important concepts, two of which are discussed in this article namely, type-2 fuzzy sets and computing with words. Much has happened since he introduced them, and it is the purpose of this article to bring the readers up-to-speed on both topics. It is also hoped that this article will whet the reader's appetite to read further on one or both of these topics.
