Transverse Magnetic Wave Propagation in a Bundle of Carbon Nanotubes

摘要
Transverse magnetic waves which propagate parallel to axial direction of a bundle of carbon nanotubes are studied within the framework of the classical electrodynamics. Electronic excitations of each nanotubes are modeled as an infinitesimally thin cylindrical layer of free-electron gas, whose dynamics are described by means of the fluid theory. General expression of dispersion relation is obtained for the guided waves by solving the Maxwell and fluid equations with appropriate boundary conditions.
