摘要
Variable-flux permanent magnet synchronous machine (VF-PMSM) is a promising candidate for adjustable speed applications, which utilizes low coercivity (Hc) magnets to enable the flexible magnetic flux regulation. Aiming at providing some useful insight into the usage of low-Hc magnets in VF-PMSMs, this paper firstly gives a comparison of different low-Hc magnets not only in terms of general properties but also practical application characteristics in VF-PMSMs. Then, an investigation of electromagnetic performance of VF-PMSMs employing different types of low-H magnets is carried out. Low-Hc magnet design considerations for VF-PMSMs based on distinguishing PM characteristics are also given.
