摘要
Mobility of visually impaired people is limited by their inability to recognize their surroundings. So, our goal is to develop a location-aware walking stick for the visually disabled or visually impaired. This self-contained, portable system uses several technologies which include speech recognition, global positioning system (GPS), and embedded systems. The purpose of the system is to provide real-time assistance via global positioning system (GPS). The system will consist of magnetometer, ultrasonic sensors, GPS module, and audio system. It will provide the user with navigation aid, making use of voice to input the destination, using automatic GPS readings, and providing directions using voice outputs.
