摘要:
After the occupation of Seoul by the Chinese and North Korean Coalition in January, 1951, the United Nations accepted a proposal for a ceasefire advanced by 13 countries, including Britain and India supported by the United States. The proposal contained provisions that were very beneficial for the PRC. However, the PRC rejected this proposal, which led to negative consequences for it, both on the battlefields in Korea and in the international arena. The authors suppose that China rejected the UN proposal for two reasons. First, the Chinese leaders overestimated their military power and set an unrealistic strategic goal - the liberation of all of North Korea. Secondly, Mao Zedong believed that the delay in joining the UN would be more beneficial for the PRC for the implementation of his internal policy.
