摘要
This analysis aims to understand how the initial version of Bill 96 fills the gaps that have progressively eroded the original substance of the Charter of the French Language (CFL) and addresses contemporary political and constitutional issues. It identifies the impact of the Quebec socio-political realignment that began in the 2010s on language law. It also examines how the constitutional issues raised by Bill 96 allow for the beginning of a new cycle for Quebec nationalism within Canada. Finally, it demonstrates that this bill, which substantially modifies the CFL, reflects the evolution of linguistic debates and Quebec nationalism. Essentially, this paper posits that this evolution is being shaped significantly by the major socio-political realignment brought about by the election of a Caquist government led by Francois Legault.
