摘要：

This paper presents an overview of a specification recently developed in the United States for the design of steel hollow structural sections (HSS.) The specification includes provisions for both member and connection design. An HSS connection manual was also developed to facilitate the design of HSS members in structures. The manual presents design procedures and aids for simple shear, moment, tension, compression and truss connections.
