摘要
A new generation video coding standard developed by IEEE 1857 working group will be published as IEEE 1857.4, which assumes the work on the first generation of IEEE 1857 video coding standard IEEE std. 1857-2013(IEEE 1857.1) and targets to double the coding efficiency of IEEE std. 1857-2013. This paper provides an overview of the forthcoming IEEE 1857.4 video coding standard, including the background and the key coding tools used in IEEE 1857.4. The performance comparisons between IEEE 1857.4 and the state-of-the art coding standards are also provided.
