摘要
The main objective of this paper is to discuss the issues related to the design and development of high data rate X-band transmitter using GaAs MESFET MMlCs. The design considerations discussed here are especially in relation to mass, power and space constraints usually encountered, in a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Satellite (of 100Kg class) systems. Feasibility of using COTS electrical components, as an alternative to military or space-qualified parts is addressed System bandwidth is the major design requirement for high data rate transmission. Optimal techniques for modulation and frequency conversion that are vital for the best utilization of available bandwidth are discussed. Detailed design of the transmitter is discussed.
