摘要
Smart pavement management system uses the up-to-date technology to get the better results in terms of cost, time, and quality. This work started with collecting data using a new smart phone application and ended up with analyzing and reporting data using a geographic information system (GIS) environment. GIS was used to report pavement data based on location. In addition, the historical data from the Ministry of Public Works (MPW) of Kuwait and other information related to pavement condition were added. The procedure that was followed to obtain accurate results was to collect, analyze, and report data using GIS, set up criteria for making decisions, identify alternative strategies, predict cost and performance of alternative strategies and compare them, and finally select and implement the most lucrative policy. The study showed the importance of the management system for roads using up-to-date technologies and provided an integrated database using GIS. After the implementation of the life cycle cost analysis, an alternative with the least cost and highest serviceability was recommended.
