Surface modification of pure Ti by laser alloying with B and Ni mixed powders

摘要
The fabrication of composite coatings by laser surface alloying of preplaced boron (B) and nickel (Ni) mixed powders on the surface of pure titanium samples was investigated. The phase composition, hardness, wear and corrosion resistance of the coatings were also investigated. The laser processing parameters were found to effect the morphology of the compounds in the coatings. The results show that composite coatings have high surface microhardness and excellent wear resistance under sliding wear conditions.
