Piezoelectric property in morphotropic phase boundary Bi0.5(Na0.82K0.18)0.5TiO3 lead free thick film deposited by screen printing

Piezoelectric Bi-0.5(Na0.82K0.18)(0.5)TiO3 thick films were screen printed on Pt electroded alumina substrates. The resulting 38 mu m thick films sintered at 1100 degrees C for 0.5 h have maximum relative permittivity of 810, dielectric loss of 2.0% (at 10 kHz), remanent polarization of 28.3 mu C/cm(2), coercive field of 62 kV/cm, and longitudinal effective piezoelectric coefficient d(33eff) of 109 pm/V. The temperature dependence of the dielectric constant shows two clear peaks that were associated with phase transitions. The performance of this lead free piezoelectric thick film could be comparable to the corresponding bulk ceramics. (c) 2008 American Institute of Physics.
