THE DIARIO INTIMO (CA. 1897) OF MIGUEL DE UNAMUNO AS GERM OF HIS LITERARY ITINERARY

Consisting of five booklets and published posthumously, the Diario Intimo (ca. 1897) of Miguel de Unamuno originated in a spiritual crisis which remained unresolved and brought him no relief through his writing; and even though its persistence may be hard to demonstrate in concrete detail, this crisis was to endure throughout his life and literary career. This article studies the origin of the Diario Intim, analyses its generic features, and discusses its main themes, highlighting its links with other works, such as Del sentimiento tragico de k vida (1912) or El Cristo de Velazquez (1920).
