Angora rabbit fiber is a specialty animal fiber. It is softer, finer and warmer than sheep's wool. Angora rabbit fiber is processed generally in long staple system, but spinning in short staple system becomes more interesting day by day. Because of low fiber cohesion the spinning of 100% Angora rabbit fibers is difficult. So angora fiber is commonly used in blends with other fibers. The aim of this work is to investigate possibilities of angora rabbit fiber utilization in short staple spinning system, to determine optimum spinning conditions for Angora rabbit fiber (with suitable staple length for short staple spinning) and cotton blended yams and to choose suitable spinning oil with optimum concentration. For this purpose, angora / cotton blended yams with different blend ratios and 100% cotton yams produced in OE rotor and ring spinning systems. Yam evenness, yam strength and yam hairiness are measured. The evaluation of results indicates that blend ratio and spinning method have significant affect on yam properties.
