We report on the structure and magnetism of an ultrathin L1(0) FePt film epitaxially grown on Pt(001) single crystal. This film presents an enhanced tetragonal distortion and a quite large magnetic anisotropy, with an orbital contribution to the Fe total magnetic moment as large as 10%.
